Even though social media get its popularity due to its merits, it also includes demerits such as violations of social, ethical and legal aspects and it directly would affect to the overall productivity of people who uses them frequently. Social media such as Facebook, Instagram, Skype, YouTube, are the most ubiquitous networks available to the date. According to recent research by Nucleus Research Center, nearly half of employees in the study and 77% of those with an account use Facebook during work hours, Some employees use Facebook as much as 2 hours per day while at work One in 33 employees use Facebook exclusively while at work, 87% could not define a clear business reason for accessing the site. So it has left a severe mark of production decreases in some cases. (Nucleus Research , 2018)
But, since social media has proven its own merits, the relevant authorities are in a dire situation whether completely cut off the access to the social media for employees, or let the employees use them. Most of the cases the employer tends to restrict social media access completely. Even if it saves the time and resources of the company, it would leave the employee in mentally distress due to the constant concentration and the monotonousness of the work.
Consequently, it would be better if it’s possible to avoid those extreme situations, and here the project has developed to obtain maximum productivity and the same time the employee satisfaction.
Initially project proposed a system which could monitor the user's behavioural pattern on social media when they use company resources such as computers, internet, etc.
The 2nd phase would be the evaluation and the usage controlling of the employees. Evaluate how many hours does a particular employee spend on social media networks. After the evaluation it would compare with the evaluation criterions defined in the system and, it will output how much time that employee get to use social media in the next month onwards. The changes of time periods will depends on the employee. So this system would gradually change the time allocation which a particular employee get instead of completely restricting the use of social media. And it surely would help employees to adapt their work while keeping their productivity at the maximum. And social media wouldn't be a headache for employers anymore.
